Minotaur Relic System

We are introducing a new RvR element, mino-relics, with the Labyrinth of the Minotaur expansion. These relics provide temporary bonuses, but in order to keep the mino-relic, the wielder must actively participate in RvR. Mino-relics cannot be taken out of RvR areas and cannot be stored in keeps. Due to this, mino-relics will constantly change hands while they are active. This complex game of "hot potato" will present a fresh new twist for standard RvR play.

There will be a total of 23 mino-relics. The mino-relics can be found in encounters in specific areas of the world:

    - Cathal Valley: 1 Relic
    - New Frontiers: 6 Relics
    - Labyrinth: 16 Relics
The Cathal Valley relic cannot be removed from the battleground. One relic in the Labyrinth dungeon is designated as a dungeon only relic and it cannot be removed from Labyrinth.

Unlocking the Minotaur Relic

In order to capture a minotaur relic, it must first be unlocked by completing the minotaur relic's encounter. The mino-relic, when spawned, is displayed on a pedestal in or near the encounter area. Once the encounter is completed, it can be picked up by any player.

Pick Up, Carry, and Drop Rules

    - Players do not need the Labyrinth of the Minotaur expansion in order to pick up a mino-relic. However, players will need the expansion in order to enter the Labyrinth to retrieve the relics that are located within the dungeon.
    - When picked up, the mino-relic effect is activated and the mino-relic meter appears on the screen. The relic can be dropped using the /dropmr command or by clicking the drop button on the mino-relic meter. The relic can be traded by using the /givemr command.
    - The minotaur relic does not appear in inventory. The relic is a "virtual" object that is tracked with the mino-relic meter.
    - Stealthing classes may carry a mino-relic and stealth with it; however, they will still appear on the realm war map (see section on Map and Chat Notifications and Visual Effects).
    - You cannot carry more than one mino-relic at a time. A group may not have more than one mino-relic at a time.
    - Mino-relics cannot leave RvR zones (the Cathal Valley mino-relic cannot leave Cathal Valley and the Labyrinth only mino-relic cannot leave Labyrinth). Upon trying to zone out or teleport from an RvR zone, the relic will drop to the ground.
    - If a player is carrying a relic upon death, LD, or logging, the relic will drop to the ground.

Feed and Decay

The wielder (and his group, if not solo) of the mino-relic must participate in RvR combat in order to maintain the mino-relic and its effect. Each mino-relic has a feed rate (the number of enemy kills required over a specific time period); there are different feed rates for different mino-relics. Generally, the more powerful a mino-relic is, the faster the feed rate (the more enemies the wielder/group must kill). Enemy player kills must be achieved to feed the minotaur relics (whether done by the wielder or the wielder's group).
The feed rate is represented by the mino-relic meter that appears on the wielder's screen.
For the mino-relics which are used in the Frontiers, kills made in the Labyrinth do not count towards the mino-relic's feed rate. When retrieving these mino-relics from the Labyrinth, the wielder must get the mino-relic out into the Frontiers and accumulate RvR kills before the feed rate timer ticks down. Each mino-relic encounter area will have a teleport option to get the wielder (and his group mates) to the Frontiers quickly.
If the wielder of the mino-relic does not get sufficient kills to sustain the mino-relic's feed rate timer, the mino-relic "decays" from the player and it is returned to its encounter location in its locked state. The effect of the mino-relic is lost at the time of decay.
If the mino-relic is dropped and not picked up, the mino-relic decays and it is returned to its encounter location in its locked state. The time until it decays is equivalent to the mino-relics feed rate timer.

Map & Chat Notifications and Visual Effects
The wielder of the mino-relic is visible on the RvR map and the zone map (or dungeon map) via a special icon. Depending upon how long the wielder holds the mino-relic, the delay represented on the maps grows shorter (updates more frequently the longer the mino-relic is held).
Additionally, a spell effect is placed on the wielder - a glowing ray that extends high into the sky. The colour of the ray is based on the mino-relic's tier (see Mino Relic Effects for more details).
Players will also have chat window notifications:
- Players in the same zone as the mino-relic will receive a chat message when the mino-relic is dropped or picked up.
- When the mino-relic has decayed and returned to its encounter location, a realm wide chat message will be printed.
- Kill messages are adjusted so that if a player with a mino-relic is killed, players are notified that a mino-relic has dropped:
- The player who killed the mino-relic wielder sees, "You killed and he/she has dropped a Minotaur Relic!"
- The players around the mino-relic wielder see, " was killed by and has dropped a Minotaur Relic!"

Minotaur Relic Gating System and Tiers
There are three tiers of mino-relics. Each tier of mino-relic belongs to a specific gate which determines when the mino-relic spawns.

    - The moment a server launches, all Tier 1 relics will spawn on their pedestals.
    - Once three Tier 1 relics are unlocked and in play, all Tier II relics will spawn.
    - Once three Tier 2 relics are unlocked and in play, all Tier III relics will spawn.
Each tier of mino-relics also corresponds to the effect the mino-relic has and who the mino-relic can affect.

Tier 1: These are single player based mino-relics. The mino-relic only affects the wielder.
Tier 2: These are group based mino-relics. The mino-relic affects the wielder's group. (must be groyp to pick it up
Tier 3: These are area based mino-relics. The mino-relic affects the wielder and a number of characters around the wielder.
Note:  Relics that must be taken out to the Frontiers will not activate their effects until they have been taken out of the Labyrinth. While inside the Labyrinth, the relic's effect is dormant.
